It's not a standard feature for unpaid accounts, but you can make request for it. Please send your fully-qualified app ID and the wildcard you want to use to support@stax.net.

Are wild card sub-domains now a standard feature or do we have to make another request to enable it on Stax?

This is something we support on the backend, but is currently disabled in the UI. We'll work on exposing this in the web UI. If you need this ASAP, please send a request for a wildcard sub-domain alias to beta@stax.net, along with your appID…

I was thinking about making this manually, because I dont wait more than a user registration at a day, but programatically better! So, I second the proposition.

Wild-card sub-domains revisted

I know you have touched on this in past but I want to bring it up again.I am interested in functionality where users can create arbitrary sub-domains such as userX.mydomain.com (wild card sub-domains--where "userX" is the user-generated portion) on the fly.I know we can now administer multiple pre-determined sub domains but is there any way to make this automated and self-directed for the users? Thanks for all your help.See More

Hi Deji, we did have a short-lived problem with this over the weekend, and I wanted to make sure that you're all set now. Please let me know if you're still having issues deploying. -Spike

Excuse my ignorance but would this also support CNAME wild card domains *.mydomain.com? If so can you give me some pointers? I want my users to be able to create their own subdomains e.g. userx.mydomain.com. Thanks!

I agree. I tried developing a Grails application on App-Engine and got so frustrated that I gave up. Everything works perfectly in Stax.
